Getting tested for coronavirus (COVID-19)
Key points
Testing is currently available to:
People with the following symptoms, however mild: fever, chills or sweats, cough, sore throat, shortness of breath, runny nose, and loss of sense of smell or taste.
People from the suburban testing priority suburbs including anyone without symptoms.
The test takes around a minute and involves a swab from the back of your throat and nose.
The test is free for everyone. You should bring at least one other form of identification – for example, your Medicare card, driver’s licence or student ID.
If you have symptoms, you should return home immediately after the test and remain in self-isolation until you receive your test result.

Where can I get children aged 0–12 years tested?
Children aged five years and over can be tested for coronavirus (COVID-19) at a shopping centre drive-through testing location or one of the other testing sites across Victoria (details of locations are above).
Due to the constraints of testing through a car window, children aged under five years will not be able to be tested at shopping centre drive-through locations.
Children under five years of age can be tested for coronavirus (COVID-19) at hospital testing clinics. In some cases, parents may be referred to a hospital emergency department.
Hospital testing clinics are listed in the map above.
Please note - all Monash Health sites (including drive-throughs) offer paediatric testing for babies under one year old and upwards.
